In this lesson, I'm going to make it really easy for you.

這堂課 我會讓你覺得 關(guān)于時間的表達原來是那么簡單

The first thing you need to know is that…this is called a watch and this is called a clock.

第一你要知道的是 這個叫手表 這個叫鐘

A lot of people don't know that.

很多人不知道這個

That's watch, you wear a watch,

這是手表 你帶的手表

and a clock is on the wall somewhere.

鐘就是掛在墻上某處的鐘

Now a lot of countries have times like this, 13:00, 19:00, 21:00.

很多國家都有這樣的時間顯示

In most English-speaking countries, we don't have these times.

在大多數(shù)說英語的國家 我們都沒有這樣的時間顯示

13:00 becomes 1pm, 19:00 becomes 7pm, and 21:00 becomes 9pm.

13:00表示成1pm 19:00表示成7pm 21:00表示成9pm

Okay here's our timeline.

這是一個時間線

We have 1am to 11am, then we have noon, 12 noon.

第一是早上1點到11點 接下來是12點 12點可用noon表示

Then it goes 1pm to 11pm, then midnight.

再從下午1點到晚上11點 再到午夜 午夜可用midnight表示

So noon is at lunch and midnight is at night.

所以說 noon代表午餐時間 midnight代表是晚上

Alright some people would call this 12am, and call this 12pm.

有人會把這個叫做早上12點 把這個叫做下午12點

All right but if you want to avoid any confusion,

但如果你想避免混淆的話

You could use these words here, noon and midnight.

你可以直接用noon和midnight來表示

Okay they're both 12 o'clock, one's at night one's at lunchtime.

它們都表示12點 一個是指中午12點 一個是指午夜12點

All right so, one really important thing that you need to know is knowing how to ask for the time.

還有一個你需要知道的重點就是 如何正確的向他人詢問時間

All right if you don't know what the time and you need to ask someone for it right?

如果你不知道時間 你就需要詢問他人 對吧

Like for me I never wear a watch, so I always have to ask other people for the time.

就像我 我從不帶手表 所以我經(jīng)常需要詢問他人時間

So the most common way to do it is just to say 'What time is it?'

最常見的問法就是 What time is it

But if you want to ask a stranger for the time,

但如果你想向陌生人詢問時間的話

then you should say one of these, you should say 'Excuse me, do you have the time?'

你應(yīng)該使用這兩種說法的其中一種 你應(yīng)該說 "Excuse me, do you have the time?"

or 'Excuse me, do you know what time it is?'

或者是 Excuse me, do you know what time it is

Okay so that's how you ask for the time, really easy.

以上就是詢問時間的方法 是不是很簡單

Let's look at how we actually say the time.

那接下來我們看看 我們要如何表達時間呢

Now there's two ways to do.

有兩種方法

We can use the word o'clock, or we can use a.m and p.m.

我們可以用o'clock或am/pm來表達

Alright so look at this here,

我們看這里

this could be 9 o'clock or it could be 9am or 9pm,

可以說成9 o'clock或9am/9pm

or some people would use both of these and say it's 9 o'clock am. or it's 9 o'clock pm.

有些人二者一起用 說成9 o'clock am或9 o'clock pm

You don't have to use both, actually you don't have to use any of this.

其實不需要二者一起使用 實際上 你可以不使用這兩種說法

Probably the most common things is just to say the number.

最常見的就是直接說數(shù)字即可

Just 9.

直接說nine就可以了

Okay so, What time is it? It's 9.

現(xiàn)在幾點了 九點了

Right, am or pm that should be obvious,

am還是pm應(yīng)該是很明顯就能看出來的（所以不需要刻意強調(diào)）

If the sun's shining, then it's am.

太陽還在照射時 那就是am

If the sun's not shining, it's probably pm right?

如果太陽下山了 就是pm了 對吧

Okay unless you live in Canada.

除非你住在加拿大

Here in Canada, it stays light for really late in the summer.

在加拿大 夏天晚些時候天空還是很亮的

In the summer, it only gets dark around I don't know 10 or 11 pm.

夏天時 可能將近10或11點天才會黑 我也不太確定

Okay so what about if we have times like this?

那如果是像這樣的時間呢

This might be really scary for you, don't worry, it's really really easy.

可能看到這你會覺得害怕 別擔(dān)心 真的很簡單

Okay when we have times like this, we can't use the word o'clock.

如果是遇到這種時間的話 就不能用o'clock這種說法了

Okay we can only use o'clock, if it's an even number like 9 o'clock or 3 o'clock.

我們只能在整點的時候用o'clock這種表達 比如9點 3點

So how do we say this?

所以這個我們要怎么說呢

We say 'Nine O Three'.

我們可以說 Nine O Three

Anytime there's a zero in the number, then it's O.

只要在時間里有數(shù)字0的 我們都把它讀成O

Then it's just the number.

接下來就是純數(shù)字了（不包括0）

Like look at this, 11:35.

看這個 11:35

Super easy, 11:35, you can say am or pm, it's your choice.

超簡單 直接讀就好了 你可以加am或pm 任你選擇

Now there's another way that some people say certain times.

還有某些特定的時間 有些人喜歡用另外的方式表達

Now you don't have to use this,

你不需要這樣表達時間

but you can and it's good to know,

但是你也可以這么使用 而且知道了會更好

if you're going to ask someone for the time, and they respond like this,

如果你向他人詢問時間后 別人是這么回答你的話

then you need to know it, but you don't have to use it.

你需要知道他們在說什么 但是你可以不這么使用

So if it's 15 minutes after the hour, then you can say 'quarter after.'

所以 如果是像這種 小時后面是15分鐘的話 你就可以說quarter after

If it's 30, half past,

小時后面是30分鐘的話 就用half past

If it's 45, quarter to.

如果是45分的話 就用quarter to

Let's look at some examples here.

我們來看些例子

So here it's 5:15 right?

這里是5:15 對吧

But you could also say 'quarter after five.'

不過你可以說 quarter after five

Here's 11:30, you could say 'half past eleven.'

這里是11:30 你就可以說half past eleven

Here it's 4:45, you could say 'It's quarter to five.'

4:45你就可以說quarter to five

It's not quarter to four, it's quarter to five.

注意 不是quarter to four 是quarter to five

But like I said,

不過 就像我之前說的

you could say these other ways as well,

你也可以用我之前教你的方法來表達時間

It's 5:15, 11:30, 4:45,

（直接讀數(shù)字）

It's all the same.

都是表達同個意思
